" The
results I have had using Aesop to teach touch-typing have been amazing.
My students to date have said the experience was one of fulfilment,
development of a new skill, and building of self esteem. Without
Aesop they didn’t
think that they could achieve learning this new skill." -
Terry Bartlett, Tutor, Dunedin |
| Description: | Aesop has been designed
to announce each letter which is typed on a keyboard in a clear human
quality voice. It
helps anyone
and especially
a blind or visually impaired person to learn touch typing without a
computer or Screen Reader.
Aesop is a compact, light-weight, battery powered unit that allows you to practise touch typing anywhere at your leisure. It does not require a PC so it's ready immediately, there is no software to run and no risk of scrambling the hard-drive. It is ideal for people with limited PC skills. Aesop can
also be connected to a PC so that keystrokes are announced as text
appears on the screen. Put aesop into Phonic mode and the phonic
sound of each key is announced. This
can help sighted users who are new to the language or have a difficulty
such as dyslexia, to match
the letter images to the sounds they represent.
Agencies teaching keyboard skills can now offer clients an inexpensive system to practise touch typing at home. Aesop requires little training to master and is an ideal teaching aid for developing keyboard skills and for teaching the early stages of written language. |
